What this site is

American Roofing Guide is an independent publisher of roofing cost research. We are not a roofing contractor. We do not install, repair, inspect, or warranty roofs, and we do not employ anyone who does.

Cost figures and estimates are not quotes

Every price on this site — the city and state pages, the guides, and the calculator — is researched market data or an estimate calculated from information you provide. None of it is a quote, an offer, or a price any contractor is bound by.

The calculator prices a roof from what you describe: the size of the house, how many stories, how steep the roof looks, what material you want. Nobody has been on your roof. The range it produces is deliberately wider than a measured quote for that reason. Your actual price comes from a contractor who measures the roof, and it can land outside our range in either direction — the decking underneath, the condition of what is up there, and what a roofer finds after tear-off are all things an estimate from the ground cannot see.

How we are paid, and what that means

When you request estimates, we pass your details to roofing contractors who serve your ZIP code, and those contractors pay us a referral fee. We disclose this plainly because you should know it. The fee is paid by the contractor, not by you, it does not change what you are quoted, and we do not take a percentage of the job.

Being referred through this site is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or a guarantee about any contractor. We do not supervise their work, set their prices, or control what they tell you.

Your dealings with contractors are your own

Any contract, payment, warranty, workmanship, scheduling, or dispute is strictly between you and that contractor. Check their license and insurance, get the price in writing, and read what you sign. American Roofing Guide is not a party to that agreement and is not liable for it.

Using this site

You may read, print, and share our pages for your own use. You may not scrape, republish, or resell our cost research. The content, data, and design of this site belong to American Roofing Guide.

Accuracy

We research each market separately and say on every page where a figure came from, including when a figure is a metro or state-level average rather than research for your specific city. Costs move. We do not warrant that any figure is current, complete, or applicable to your particular roof.

Limitation of liability

This site is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, American Roofing Guide is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, from a cost figure or estimate, or from your dealings with any contractor you found through us.
